C# (pronounced "C sharp")
C# is a powerful object oriented programming language. It can be used to develop
applications and services running on anything from large server environments to
Windows Mobile based phones and handheld devices.
Reporting Services
SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a server-based reporting tool. It comes
with an ad-hoc reporting tool that is launched from its browser-based Report Manager.
There is also a Report Designer accessible from within the Visual Studio IDE.
Microsoft Access
Microsoft Access can be used to create new database applications quickly. If you
have an existing Access database, a programmer can add additional features and enhancements.
If you have reached the limits of what Access can handle, data can be moved to SQL
Server.
Crystal Reports
Crystal Reports can produce standard reports, cross-tabs, subreports, and graphs.
Reports can be created that give the user the ability to interactively explore the
report at run time. Report data can be exported to formats such as PDF, Excel Spreadsheet
(.xls), Word Document (.doc), Rich Text Format (.rtf), and HTML. Reports can also
be seamlessly integrated into custom applications.
Data Mart / Data Warehouse
A database that is well-designed for data entry purposes (OLTP - Online Transaction
Processing) may not be well suited for reporting purposes (OLAP - Online Analytical
Processing). You may benefit by having a reporting database (a Data Mart or Data
Warehouse) designed for your specific reporting requirements.
